Wicked

My sister and I went to see Wicked (the back story of the witches of the wizard of oz) at the Kennedy center in Washington D.C this past week and the songs are still playing in my head! It was positively captivating and so well-written, truly a creative masterpiece of story, song, and friendship! I highly recommend it and there's still some seats available if your in the D.C area!
Here's our sisterly night together at the Kennedy Center via the iphone!

The kennedy center itself is pretty spectacular, I used to be a season pass holder a few years ago. By the way, Les Miserables will be playing next month; my absolute favorite.

Couldn't help but snap a picture of this darling little girl with red ruby slippers in the spirit of the Wizard of Oz!

The baby danced along to the music the whole time!

Favorites Friday: Green

My sister and I went to to see "Wicked" the musical this week, which was phenomenal! So I have green on the brain and with all the forecasted rain this weekend our yard should be looking pretty green too!

Green hunter rain boots are on my wish list via pinterest

Skirted console table tutorial (4 easy steps)

All you need for this tutorial is at least 6-7 yards of fabric, staple gun, and scissors. I found my outdoor fabric on clearance at Hancocks fabric for $6 a yard, major score. Outdoor fabric proved to be easier to work with since its more heavyweight and creates nice seams.

In this step you will use two separate pieces of fabric to form a crease on both side and in the center. I really love the way the pleats make it look more professional.
When I got to this step, I ran out of fabric because of the way the pattern was facing, so I have two pieces on the top of my table.

My skirted console table

This skirted console table was born out of a need for storage! I needed a place to hide my photo printer and props; this table fit the bill. My sister put together the wood pieces which make the console table and I simply stapled and pleated the fabric to fit the table. The how-to post should be coming tomorrow. I'd love to put a cream and brown zebra throw rug on the floor there, but its not essential especially since were moving in 2 years again!

A baby update, chariots, and a klondike bar

The ultrasound with the perinatologist was yesterday and well, nothing has changed. The femurs are still measuring 3 weeks behind everything else and everything else is normal. I was hoping to receive some words of comfort but the doctor didn't give me any warm fuzzies, which was a bit hard for my pregnant mind! In fact, he said he wants to see me again in 2 weeks but thinks I'll go into labor before then to which I replied no thanks sir, there's nothing more to look at or find! So I left teary-eyed with my husband who was attempting to be encouraging and said, "Babe we trust in the Lord our God not doctors or ultrasounds." Then somehow the Lord brought to my mind a song I used to love from the late 90's (this is how I KNOW its the Lord!) by a gal named Jennifer Knapp, called "In the name." There's a scripture from the song saying, "Some trust in chariots and horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God. Ps 20:7" (my chariots and horses are the medical machine) And once again I am blown away be how quickly God speaks to my heart and quiets my fears about this baby, miraculous. Oh and the klondike bar just helps chase away any lingering blues from a challenging day!

P.S I cherished every single comment from my last post about the baby, where many shared your faith and stories with me, thank you so much; I saved them all and am encouraged.

Party weekend review

Wow, what a weekend! A surprise baby shower for Bo (thank you ladies, so sweet!) a baby girl shower, and a birthday party! Oh and my new bike came in, can't wait to show you plus G discovered the simple joys of running through the sprinkler; one of my favorite childhood memories!

This is Selah, the birthday girl, member her from over here?

Im jealous of both her hair and tan! what a doll!

We got her a rapunzel doll, which I would have wanted too!

When the pool was closed this weekend, I introduced G to our backyard sprinkler; what a hit!

We also made friends with this turtle in our yard!
Husband also joined us on Sunday, he's such a treat too!

Favorites Friday: Feeling fruity

We are heavily into hot scorching heat here in Northern Virginia and all I can think about is cold fruit (well and giving birth to this baby!)
Here's a tribute to all things fruity, delicious, and healthy!
(even though my sister says I pick out the worst fruit at the grocery store!)

Fruitful centerpieces, great idea!

Polka dots and pink bags

I might of accidentally got this baby pink leather Cynthia Rowley bag from Tjmaxx instead of a diaper bag, opps! But for a Mama who's been and will continue to be knee deep in earth worms, trucks, trains, and all things boy I needed a little pink in my life!

I'm a little off balance these days!

Did I mention the inside is zebra fabric lined and who can resist a tassel?

Big earrings are a pregnant girl's best friend

When your pregnant people will inevitably stare at your belly instead of your face while talking to you! While I don't mind and find it pretty amusing, I've discovered that bold earrings take the pressure off that baby bump and redirect people to your face!

I got an intervention

via

I had a not so great doctor's appointment where they strongly suggested I have a third ultrasound by a perinatologist because baby's femurs measured small. Mind you, I have zero medical history and only had a second ultrasound because I'm measuring small. The first ultrasound was perfect, nothing wrong. In my heart, I believe he's fine and his little legs will play catch up in the womb, just as things grow at different rates. When doctor's tell you things like this, your mind goes into a fog, your heart beats faster and the fear can be overwhelming; enter the Lord.
Following the appointment I randomly went to Taco Bell and ran into my babysitter's mom, who is amazing. I quickly had a meltdown and she immediately put her hand on my belly and spoke with total authority saying, "In Jesus name I pray nothing is wrong!" Can I tell you the instant freedom I felt? So liberating. However, since I'm being so transparent here I'm tempted to take back those anxious thoughts and fears everyday; so taking my thoughts captive and trusting the Lord is my plan of action!
I welcome any of your prayers and thoughts if you've been down a similar road.

Favorites Friday: Baby finds

Phew, so glad this week has come to an end, it wasn't an easy one for me. Here's a few cute baby boy finds that I don't need, but wouldn't mind!

Owl hat for those first photos via mymimi'slove

This is our stroller that came in the mail yesterday, so Gideon can sit/stand on the back and Boaz can ride in the front plus its ultra light weight, easy to manuever, and can hold the infant car seat too!

How perfect are these for rough and tumble boys. These crib shoes were my favorite with Gideon because they never fell off and kept their feet warm.

Almost ate the floor this week as I was entering my patient's room....so embarrasing; this print sums up that moment!

Happy weekend, friends we'll be at the pool, grilling, and going to a work picnic! Hope yours is fun and relaxing. Thanks for all the encouragement with the baby this week, I needed it more than you know!

Why Boaz?

I promise we are not trying to be weird or crazy by naming him Boaz! It all started with us wanting a girl named Ruth (Ruthie)! When God had different plans we were a bit stumped for names, but believe the name Ruth led us to Boaz (which was her husband). Boaz means "he who comes in strength and swiftness" and is known as as "kinsman redeemer" which represents how Jesus redeems us. Boaz is also in the geanealogy of Jesus himself. So powerful. Also my pastor who's had a defining impact on my walk with the Lord and also married Adam and I is affectionately nicknamed, "Bo." So all signs truly pointed to Boaz!
In the womb he's already proven to be both strong and swift with his kicks and flips! Can't wait to meet him!

Boaz to Ruth, "May the Lord repay you for what you have done. May you richly be rewarded by the Lord, the God of Israel, under whose wings you have come to take refuge."
Ruth 2:12
