First up, please head over to the revel blog by the lovely and gorgeous nienke!!!She's featuring a fall revel series, where today I'm sharing all my favorite things about fall!! Check out her amazing blog full of amazing photography, diy's, and yummy food recipes!
This week really inspired this week by using what you got, so effectively displayed by those taking the 30 for 30 challenge. Where you use 30 fashion items and where em for 30 days strictly using what you own in your closet....no shopping! Im so guilty of claiming to have nothing instead of remixing, which can apply to your home too!!
Here's my fellow friendly bloggers so creatively remixing!

Kendi the girl who started it all from kendi everyday

Sydney from the daybook

Linda from rose ala mode

More lovely inspiration from this week:

2 years ago today

Can't believe its been two years since we said goodbye to Dad, the most invincible, smartest, and caring doctor you'll ever meet. I've learned and grieved so much since then and yes still the sadness remains, its become a part of me. I remain shocked at how a supposed veteran of faith (believer for 16 years!) like myself was so utterly rattled and yet my Dad a new believer through fire taught me so much. In fact, its safe to say in the midst of the valley while Dad uttered the 23rd Psalm with assurance I borrowed and clung to his faith. So once again Dad thank you for the ongoing lessons of life and faith; I love and miss you more than words. More about my Dad and his story here.

"When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze." Isaiah 43:2

Winter duds

So November 1st felt like fall left and winter arrived, yikes! I blame my thin skin on all that subtropical island living we did for 4 years because it barely hits 50 and I'm in hat, scarves, and gloves!
Here's some winter pieces and combinations catching my eye.

Carmels

Cardigans, warm skirts, and colored tights

 Gingham and pencil skirts

 Hoodies with blazers

The answer

image here

These lyrics couldn't ring more true to my heart today-
"I've tried more of me and I've come up dry, trading you for things that go away. My happiness is found in less of me and more of you....I have found the answer is to love you and be loved by you alone."
 Shane and Shane

He alone satisfies!

The chairs are target online, horse-zgallerie, and light fixtures ny lighting.

We made the pelmet out of wood with a nailgun then covered with batting and fabric.

Rug runner is ikea.

A touch of fall.

Favorites Friday: thankful

One of the sole reasons I work at the hospitals is to keep perspective. There's no way I can for one second think about myself as I tend people who shouldn't have cancer, disease, and heartache. This week I remain so thankful for all of the riches and I mean riches esepecially compared to the world (If you can read this, you are rich). My week started off at church featuring World help an organization that brings clean water to the nations. 6,000 children die everyday because of dirty water....astounding and unacceptable.
These images just celebrate treasured moments in lives by the incredbily talented wildflowers photography.

Also of note:

Don't waste your cancer is one powerful blog.

Modern day Noah

The belted cardigan is my new go-to fall outfit!

Renting this lens for a month, wahoo!

Plan to hit up the pumpkin patch this weekend, hope you guys have a delightful one!

Secrets

I love secrets. Not about people but to people. Ya know their idiosyncracies, oddities, quirks, and delights. It takes time and patience to unlock those hidden truths. The "getting to know each other thing" which my husband and I still work on daily believe it or not! This concept blew me away while watching, "How to train your dragon" spending time with his dragon revealed the innerworkings! So applicable to our relationship with God, we only know him by spending time with him. Such a rich lesson for me and all from a kids movie!

"The Lord confides in those who fear him, he makes His covenants known." Ps 24:15

Now if I could just figure out how to train my dragon?!

Best engagement ever

Just had to share this amazing engagement story, mainly because it involves two people who are dear to us; Joe and Jill. Joe is a marine and Jill is a physical therapist! He organized this most elaborate treasure hunt for Jill sending her to different locations throughout the D.C area each with a Marine in dress blues with a single rose and a question she had to answer! The last rose led her to Joe at the Lincoln memorial accompanied by all the handsome marines in their dress blues which of course drew a crowd. That's where the question was finally asked, "Will you marry me?" Oh and he hired a photographer (Michelle Cross) to capture it all, what a guy.
SO GOOD (girly squeal!)

Here they are waiting for her arrival.

surprise Jill!

Glorious.

Our family photoshoot

Sweet kiki took some family photos of us for me!! Found out hubs will be unavailable for the ball, major bummer. But made the most of some ball gowns and used em for our pictures!! Smiles all around, that is except for Gideon who choose our picture day to uncooperate (putting it nicely!)
